About the Union Square Partnership

Proudly serving the neighborhood for over 35 years, the Union Square Partnership is the leading advocate for the Union Square-14th Street community, working collaboratively with area residents, businesses, and cultural and academic institutions to ensure the district's continued growth and success.  USP's programs include sanitation, public safety, economic development and marketing services, and we invest in the beautification and maintenance of Union Square Park, the district's crown jewel.  Our mission is to enhance the neighborhood's quality-of-life by creating a cleaner, safer and more enjoyable environment. 

Keeping Union Square Clean & Safe

Making sure the district's sidewalks and streets clean and safe is a top priority.  USP's Clean Team scours the district seven days a week, emptying trash bins, removing graffiti from gates and property walls as well as illegal signage and flyers from street furniture.  Power washing takes place in the spring and summer, and throughout the winter, they clear the district’s sidewalks and intersections of snow and ice.

Working closely with our partners in law enforcement, our Public Safety Team ensures that the Union Square district continues to be a safe and welcoming environment, and addresses quality-of-life offenses that affect the area as they occur.  They are the eyes and ears of the district, reporting unlawful activity, connecting those in need with services, and providing information and assistance to passersby.

 

Marketing & Community Events

Whether it is surveying public opinion, tracking pedestrian volumes, producing marketing materials, or hosting public forums on topics of interest, USP is constantly engaging the community to help the area succeed and grow.  Stay informed of free neighborhood events, service alerts, store openings and local promotions by signing up for our monthly newsletter.

USP supports a number of free community events including park volunteer days, networking opportunities, and Summer in the Square, our ten-week entertainment program in the park.  Our signature event, Harvest in the Square, is Manhattan's premier food and wine tasting extravaganza showcasing over fifty renowned local restaurants while raising money to support our efforts in the park.  And our newest initiative, Art in the Park, brings world-class public art to the area on a rotating basis.

Beautifying Union Square Park

Over the past three decades, USP has spearheaded a number of park improvement projects, which have ultimately led to the renaissance of the neighborhood.  The organization raises private funds to support a wide-range of projects including landscaping, lawn maintenance, and its largest capital project to date: the North End Project, which included tripling the play space, repaving the plazas, rehabilitating the Pavilion, and adding restroom facilities. 

Union Square Park also plays host to a number of USP-sponsored, seasonal events and programs, including Art in the Park, and signature events like Harvest in the Square.  Our work is made possible through the generous contributions of the residents and businesses who live and work in the district.  More
