Bid Services

The Union Square Partnership Business Improvement District (BID), New York's City's first, was established in 1984 to promote the economic, residential and cultural vitality of Manhattan's 14th Street-Union Square district. Our mission is to promote the neighborhood's quality of life by creating a safer, cleaner and more enjoyable environment. We are vocal advocates for Union Square Park and the surrounding area, working with government agencies and elected officials to secure needed support and resources for neighborhood improvement.

The BID has defined boundaries and is supported with assessments paid by district property owners. The Board of Directors is comprised of business and property owners, residents, community representatives and government officials committed to striking a balance between development and community enrichment.

In order to achieve our mission, the BID develops and implements a wide range of services, programs and events. Most importantly, the BID provides supplemental Security and Sanitation services for the district, which form the core of our work. The BID's Business Services initiatives also serve the area by increasing commercial activity, bolstering community spirit and ensuring the neighborhood's economic vitality.

BID district boundaries incorporate the properties on both sides of 14th Street from the western corners of First Avenue to the eastern corners of Sixth Avenue, the properties surrounding Union Square Park, and the park itself.
