Description:
Eugene Lang College and the New School for Social Research presents a lecture by the New Yorker staff writer Jill Lepore. Her talk draws from her latest book, The Whites of Their Eyes: The Tea Party's Revolution and the Battle over American History, which tells the story of the centuries-long struggle over the meaning of the nation's founding, including the battle waged by the Tea Party, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, and evangelical Christians to “take back America.” Free; no tickets or reservations required; seating is first-come first-served.
Jill Lepore is the David Woods Kemper ’41 Professor of American History at Harvard University. She is author of The Name of War: King Philip’s War and the Origins of American Identity; Encounters in the New World: A History in Documents; A Is for American: Letters and Other Characters in the Newly United States; and New York Burning: Liberty and Slavery in an Eighteenth-Century City.
