Wi-Fi in Union Square
The Union Square Partnership, with the assistance of Wi-Fi Salon, has brought free public Wi-Fi to a new level in Union Square. A high performance Wi-Fi Hot Zone now covers the park. In addition, there is a local community portal for park goers and web visitors alike. Laptops, iPhones, and Wi-Fi enabled devices of all sorts can now be used in the Union Square Park neighborhood for free.

Hardware Requirements
A laptop, phone, game console, tablet, etc, with WiFi/802.11a,b,g capabilities.
Software Requirement
Any web browser (for example Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer).
Connecting to the network

Troubleshooting
A small portion of wireless network users may need to adjust software settings to access the Union Square Wireless Network. If you have difficulty connecting, try the following steps:
- If not, you will have to connect manually. Search for the SSID unionsquarewifi in your list of detected networks on your device and choose it.
- Make sure that your web browser is not set to use a proxy server. For Internet Explorer, this setting can be found in the Windows Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings.
- Configure your TCP/IP settings to obtain an internet address automatically using DHCP.
Once you are connected, all Internet services including email, instant messaging and web browsing will be available for you to use. The local community portal offers information feeds from the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation as well as an interactive map detailing where to dine and shop in the area.
