Meet the New Faces at Union Square Partnership
We are thrilled to welcome two additions to the Union Square Partnership family this fall.
Monica Munn joins the Union Square Partnership with years of experience designing urban economic development and sustainability strategies, most recently at The Rockefeller Foundation. In her role as Director of Economic Development, Monica will lead programs to enhance the Union Square district’s streetscape, promote retail and commercial activity, engage local stakeholders around neighborhood projects and government initiatives, and measure the neighborhood’s overall economic development. Additionally, she will facilitate partnerships between Union Square’s residential and business communities and other area resources, including universities, schools, health care facilities and cultural institutions.

Preferred Transit: As a transit buff, I’m always impressed with Union Square’s multitude of transportation options. In the morning, you can usually find me walking up University Place to our office. If I’m heading downtown for a meeting, Citibike helps get me there quickly. I’m also a fan of the M14, which was my daily commute when I lived on East 14th Street. Clearly I have a hard time picking just one!
Union Square Go-To: Every day I take advantage of the amazing culinary scene in Union Square - from shopping for the tastiest seasonal produce at the Greenmarket and grabbing a mid-afternoon snack at Breads Bakery to catching up with a friend over drinks at Union Square Cafe.
Hashtag: Not only do urban parks, like Union Square, bring a bit of green to our concrete jungle, they also keep our air clean, support an active healthy lifestyle, and foster a sense of community with our neighbors. It’s inspiring to follow #USQPark to see how much my fellow New Yorkers enjoy visiting the park and its many amenities.
D’Arcy Sampson joins the team after graduating this May with a Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia. After spending her summer and fall as the Business and Placemaking Fellow at the Times Square Alliance, she joins the Union Square team as a Marketing Associate, with plans to take on Special Projects for the organization in economic development, community management and more as USP continues to grow and expand its programming.

Preferred Transit: Coming from Brooklyn, I spend a lot of time R train getting to and from Union Square. This neighborhood is such a hub of transportation which makes commuting by train so easy, but once I’m above ground, nothing beats walking around the busy streets or strolling through the park.
Union Square Go-To: My go-to spot in Union Square will always be the park. I love wandering through the paths, perusing the Union Square Greenmarket, and dog-watching at the dog run.
Hashtag: Before moving to New York, I visited the city every winter and made the Union Square Holiday Market one of my first stops every time. I love following #USQHoliday - exploring the market is the best kick-off to my holiday season.
