New Commanding Officer for the 13th Precinct
Union Square welcomes Deputy Inspector Steven Hellman as the new Commanding Officer of the 13th Precinct. Hellman will be taking over the role from Deputy Inspector Brendan Timoney, who has been an asset at the precinct for the last three years. Hellman has served in the NYPD for the past 24 years in positions across Manhattan. Previously, Deputy Inspector Hellman held a position in the 19th Precinct on the Upper East Side, and as an officer in Washington heights for six years. He joins the 13th Precinct from the East Village/Lower East Side's 7th Precinct, where he has served as Commanding Officer since 2015. Deputy Inspector Hellman knows the Union Square neighborhood well after serving at the 13th Precinct as Executive Officer in 2014.
