Celebrate Small Business Saturday November 24th
Union Square Partnership has joined the Small Business Saturday Coalition for 2018. As a Neighborhood Champion, USP will be highlighting local businesses and special deals + discounts to kick off your holiday shopping season all month long. Check out local businesses where you can #ShopSmall in Union Square this season, and look for the #ShopSmall stickers, welcome mats, flags and other materials at neighborhood shops + eateries.
Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 to help bring more customers to local shops. The second annual Small Business Saturday kicked off in 2011 at Rothman’s NYC right here in Union Square. Rothman’s owners Ken and Jim Giddon joined then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg to kick off the countdown and promote the city and its small businesses. Read the full story here.
Today, it’s a holiday shopping tradition that celebrates a greater nationwide movement dedicated to uniting communities and supporting all kinds of small businesses — from corner stores to food trucks to online boutiques. Each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, shoppers, business owners, and organizations come together to #ShopSmall, celebrate, and share the places they love with the people they love.
