Tender Greens, the beloved pioneering, fine-casual kitchens founded in 2006 opens its very first East Coast location just two-blocks north of Union Square Park at 900 Broadway on Monday, February 5th. The restaurant is open daily from 10 AM - 11 PM. Tag your welcome with #TGHelloNY on Instagram.

The NYC opening and expansion to the East Coast has been anticipated for nearly two years, following 2015 news of an investment from the local Union Square Hospitality Group. 

"I love Tender Greens, and am thrilled that friends in New York will soon get to enjoy the experience that Californians have adored since 2006. I’m especially happy that the first location will be in the heart of our Union Square neighborhood,” said Danny Meyer, founder of Union Square Hospitality Group and Union Square Cafe. 

Tender Greens is a chef’s kitchen open for lunch and dinner that combines a fine dining point of view and warm hospitality in a casual, quick dining atmosphere. Expect comfort food, elevated. The restaurant serves farmer's market-driven cooking to guests in a beautiful, relaxed environment, and is sourcing from local producers from GrowNYC and it's Union Square Greenmarket, Greenmarket Grains, Gotham Green's and more. The space includes ample room for seating, including a full bar overlooking the chef's stations. Pre-ordering for pickup is also available.

Each location is unique to the neighborhood it serves, and each kitchen is helmed by an Executive Chef with a fine dining background, ensuring that everything is made with the utmost care and attention. Chef Peter Ballistreri, Executive Chef of TG Union Square, hails from the Lodge at Torrey Pines, where he cooked under Executive Chef Jeff Jackson. Additionally, Peter spent the last eight years working in San Diego with his cousin (similarly named Pete Balistreri), who created his own line of award-winning salumi, incubated out of Tender Greens.

“We are excited and humbled to be opening our first East Coast location in NYC, and could not imagine a better community than Union Square, home to some of the city’s best restaurants and just steps from the Greenmarket,” said Tender Greens’ Co- Founder Erik Oberholtzer. “What our chefs love to do is cook for people as we would in our own homes – simple, flavorful, market-driven food that is accessible every day, and served with warm hospitality. We can’t wait to plant our roots here.”

The Tender Greens core menu features entrees, salads and sandwiches—and served with vegetables, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and a simple salad – along with soups, sides and daily specials created with farmer’s market finds on the chef’s whim. Menu items are in the $12-$15 range. Signature items include Backyard Marinated Steak and Southern Fried Chicken, Tuna Nicoise and Happy Vegan Big Salad. The NYC location's menu with change and feature different dishes for lunch and dinner.
