Union Square Gets a Splash of Spring Color

As winter attempts to keep our skies dreary, the Union Square Partnership is working to add pops of spring color across the neighborhood. USP invests in the beautification of the district year-round, and our team works especially hard to make sure our community is bright, beautiful, and blooming for the spring. As you walk through Union Square this season, look around to see all of our spring projects in action, led by the Union Square Partnership Clean Team.

Starting in spring, the Union Square Clean Team gets an added boost with more staff and later hours to keep the district clean and add in time for the extra spring and summer projects.

Find our landscaping team out in the park planting beautiful yellow, purple, blue, and pink flowers, and fresh greenery along the park's most popular walkways and monuments. Also find spring blooms in 90 planters around the district, along 17th Street, in the Broadway Pedestrian Plaza, throughout Union Square Park's walkways and plazas, and in hanging pots on light poles. Additionally, last year we completed the installation of 80 columnar trees along Union Square East, adding more greenery to the neighborhood. Look for the trees to bloom again, and new understory plantings coming soon!

LAWN care

Our landscaping team reseeds the center lawn with extra TLC this season so it can bloom green grass for you to enjoy all through summer and fall.

Enjoy the shade of our brand new teal umbrellas as you lounge in the park and the Broadway Plaza on our bistro tables and chairs. They'll match the new teal "Welcome to Union Square" barricade covers at all park entrances.

even more seating

In partnership with the NYC Parks Department, we're excited to open an additional seating area along the 15th Street Transverse and Union Square West, complete with Union Square Park's very own dedicated chess tables later this season.

In the meantime, enjoy the lime green bistro furniture put out daily around the park by our Clean Team for your lunch break, outdoor meeting complete with free WiFi, or a quiet spot to breathe fresh air.

As you shed your winter coat, the Clean Team adds a new coat of paint to the district. Find them repainting fences, tree guards, and street elements while they remove any graffiti tags on public amenitites.
