This season, the Union Square Partnership worked jointly with the NYC Parks to unveil a brand new seating area in Union Square Park. Next time you're in the Square, enjoy the sunshine at the corner of the 15th Street Transverse and Union Square West - sit outside for an al fresco lunch or listen to live jazz in the Park as part of our Thursday Summer in the Square program.

The West Side Seating Area has been outfitted with new stone screening, an upgraded irrigation system, lush flowers + plants, and signature USP bistro tables and chairs. Pull up a seat and enjoy a sunny afternoon under the shade of our brand new teal umbrellas - all seating areas are maintained by the USP Clean Team, so give them a wave when you see them working in the new seating area.

You asked and we listened - thank you to those community members who took part in USP's annual Community Opinion Survey! This year's survey indicated a desire for more space to sit throughout the Park, so we worked to bring the neighborhood an additional signature USP seating area. This project was coordinated by USP Director of Operations Tom DiRusso and Operations Manager McLawrence Glynn, and completed in partnership with the NYC Parks Department. Special thanks to Barbara Vaccaro, Brad Romaker, and Mercedes Nunez.

This project would not be possible without support from our outstanding neighborhood partners who support our work through our fall fundraising event Harvest in the Square. Learn more about the food + wine festival that makes Union Square bloom, and what you can do to support our work here.
