The Union Square Partnership's free community programming series launches this Thursday with all the fun you've experienced for over 40 years, with new partners and elements for summer 2018. Read on below for highlights on new programs you can enjoy all summer long.

new! SUPER SOCCER STARS (THU, 4 PM, North plaza) 

Get ready for a World Cup-enthused summer with Super Soccer Stars. The skilled coaches are bringing the premier soccer program to the North Plaza with plenty of room for kids to practice drills, scoring and the basics of soccer. With the philosophy to use soccer to nurture, to build self-confidence, and to develop teamwork in every class, the specially designed curricula uses positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio to ensure that each child improves at his or her own rate while having endless fun.

new! yoga mat giveways (thu, 7 am south plaza, 7:30 pm north plaza)

Early birds get the mat! If you need a new yoga mat this summer, you're in luck. The first 20 attendees at the 7:00 AM class, and the first 25 attendees for the 7:30 PM class* will receive a free Union Square mat to use and take home. 

*Attendees may sign in to reserve a yoga mat starting when evening fitness opens at 5:00 PM. Mats will be distributed at 7:15 PM.

new! tai chi (thu, 9 am, george washington lawn)

Perfect for all ages and body types, join the 14th Street Y for Tai Chi on the George Washington Lawn and find an hour of peace in the bustling city this summer. Led by an experienced teacher of practicing Tai Chi across the city, join Roberto to practice this art that promotes balance, strength, grace, and flexibility, and promotes a meditative mood with its “dance of quiet motion."

new! Bubble garden (thu, 12:30 - 2:00 pm, south plaza)

You may remember the Gazillion Bubble Show's Bubble Garden popping up once or twice the past few years of Citi Summer in the Square. For 2018, kids can play with bubbles every week! Stop by the South Plaza and enjoy an hour and a half of magical moments.

new! dueling performers (thu, 5 pm, south plaza)

For our second year of Dueling Performances (where artists battle it out live on the Main Stage) performers are taking it to the next level. Celebrate NYC Pride with Dueling Drag Queens, watch as Brooklyn Express Drumline takes the stage, and pretend you're in Pitch Perfect with Dueling A Cappella troupe Back Track Vocals. new! hydration station (thu, 7 am - 6 pm, south plaza)

Bring your reusable water bottle and stay hydrated all summer long courtesy of the Citi Summer in the Square Hydration Station. Fill up with NYC Water on the West Plaza every Thursday. While supplies last, pick up a free reusable bottle at the Union Square Partnership Info Booth.

new! bocce union square (open DAILY for lunch + dinner)

While you're out in the park enjoying Citi Summer in the Square, head to the North Plaza for lunch or dinner at Bocce Union SquareServing pizza, salads and cocktails to cool you down alongside, yes a Bocce Court, enjoy chef Tim Meyer's menu packed of Union Square Greenmarket vegetables and herbs while you truly enjoy the summer sun in Union Square's backyard.
