Friends of the Union Square Dog Run Make Updates in Park
We all know the Union Square Dog Run is one of the best spots in Manhattan to bring your pup for some outdoor playtime. Recently, the Friends of the Union Square Dog Run have been working hard to improve this special corner of the park reserved for doggos. Check out some of the improvements below, and bring your dog to enjoy the new amenities in person!
The Friends of the Union Square Dog Run have been working to organize the dog run for over twenty years. Their organization operates mainly by word of mouth, so check out the bulletin board located at the dog run’s entrance, or send them a letter at 215 Park Avenue South, Suite 1903. Be sure to follow and tag the Union Square Dog Run on Instagram.
After the busy summer season, the Dog Run was ready for a new surface for dogs to run and play on. The Union Square Partnership Clean Team donated support to help the Friends of the Union Square Dog Run to spread new stone screening across the run’s surface. 75 bags, or over two tons of gravel were spread in the park, now ready for dogs to safely enjoy.
While your pups are playing, look around the Dog Run to spot new trees and bushes sprucing up the space. Find three beautiful Mulberry trees around the park’s perimeter, new lilac bushes near the Run’s entrance, and rose bushes along the 15th Street wall.
On sunny or rainy days, enjoy the shade and cover of signature teal Union Square Partnership umbrellas, donated to the dog run by USP. The Dog Run umbrellas are put up, taken down, and maintained by the USP Clean Team year-round.
Whether you’re looking for a new spot to play, or your pup is a USQ regular, this season’s new improvements and amenities make the Union Square Dog Run one of the best urban getaways for dogs to enjoy the outdoors.
