Outdoor Dining in Union Square

The sun is out and so is all of NYC! Read our guide to outdoor dining in Union Square to find sunny sidewalk cafes and shady spots to enjoy an outdoor meal. Be sure to try pizza on Union Square Park's North Plaza at Bocce USQ and bring your lunch to enjoy on our signature bistro furniture.

Find free public seating throughout the park and surrounding plazas, courtesy of the Union Square Partnership. Grab lunch from the plethora of grab + go options around the neighborhood, and find a seat in one of five seating areas on the Center Lawn, the West Side at both the 15th and 16th Street Transverses, the West Plaza at the James Fountain, and the Broadway Pedestrian Plaza at 17th Street. Bring a group and pull up our signature lime green bistro tables + chairs, and relax under the shade of our teal umbrellas, set up and maintained daily by our Clean Team.

Ready for al fresco dining, outdoor games, and world-class pizza? Bocce Union Square is now officially open for their second season! The open-air interior of the historic pavilion building combined with seating directly on Union Square Park’s North Plaza is the perfect summer dining destination.

Indulge this summer in gourmet French delicacies at Boucherie on Park Avenue South. Their floor-to-ceiling glass doors open for the summer season with options to eat in the open-air dining room, or dine on the sidewalk for dinner and a show (iconic NYC people-watching!).

You don’t need to stay in the Hyatt Union Square to enjoy an outdoor meal at their new restaurant Bowery Road. Executive Chef Ron Rosselli shops for fresh ingredients at the Union Square Greenmarket for incredible meals at this American Brasserie on Fourth Avenue.

The most Instagram-worthy cafe is now open on 14th Street! LROOM Cafe serves desserts that are almost too pretty to eat and lattes that look like a work of art. During the summer months, their floor-to-ceiling glass storefront opens up to let in the sunlight and warm air.

Transport yourself to Italian city streets on the outdoor patio of Tarallucci e Vino on 18th Street. Enjoy homemade pastas, and whether you go for breakfast, lunch or dinner, be sure to try their flaky pastries, baked fresh daily for all their locations on premise at their USQ restaurant.

Looking for lunch with a drink on the side? The Winslow on East 14th Street is one of the best gin bars in NYC. Grab an outdoor table to enjoy British-inspired fare like Scotch Eggs, Cornbread Yorkies, and fish and chips, plus the best damn G&T in the city.
