Enjoy the Last Weeks of Public Seating in Union Square
As we transition to colder weather, get in your last park lunches on our bistro tables and chairs. The Union Square Partnership provides public bistro seating from April - October for the neighborhood to enjoy. Hold a morning meeting outside, enjoy your lunch from your favorite #USQEats spot, or bring a book from Barnes & Noble or Strand Bookstore to read. Find a seat in the sun, or find shade under our teal umbrellas. The seating areas are managed daily by the Union Square Partnership Clean Team.
Broadway Pedestrian Plaza
On Broadway between 17th Street and 18th Street, enjoy a corridor of tables and chairs lined by planters filled with #USQBlooms. Bring your lunch, a book, or enjoy people-watching as the hustle and bustle of New York passes by.
Two West Side Seating Areas
Enter the park on the 16th Street Transverse and you'll find the West Side Seating Area tucked away beneath beautiful park trees. Here is one of the quieter seating areas to enjoy, with chirping birds as the soundtrack to your afternoon. Last summer we debuted a brand new seating area on the West Path at the 15th Street Transverse, complete with beautiful plantings and a view over the Park’s West Plaza.
An inlet on the West Plaza, closest to 15th Street, you'll find the James Fountain seating area. Enjoy a view of people-watching and farmer-watching the Greenmarket on Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays.
16th Street Transverse
Directly across from the Abraham Lincoln Statue and Evelyn’s Playground, you'll find seating with a view of the main lawn, the Playground and plenty of #USQBlooms.
Finally, you’ll find abundant seating available at the north end of the center lawn. This spot is the best for big groups and shade.
