With cooling temps and changing autumnal hues, there's no better time to enjoy fall activities in Union Square. Here’s how we’re enjoying fall in Union Square.

Fresh Food

Go shopping in GrowNYC’s Union Square Greenmarket for an early taste of the fall harvest. Alongside apples, squash, potatoes, rainbow carrots, and apple cider donuts, find New York State wine, beer and spirits on select market days. Be sure to try a taste of Taconic Distillery and Hickory Ledges Farm - Full Moonshine, which you may have sampled at the 24th Annual Harvest in the Square. You can always check which fruits, veggies, and other produce are in season from your favorite local farmers using GrowNYC’s Seasonal Food Guide. Plus, if you didn’t meet local chefs at Harvest in the Square, you can still get to know the face behind the food on Saturdays this fall with the Union Square Greenmarket Food Book Fair.

New Businesses

Stop in to some of these newly-opened shops, studios, and storefronts for a taste of something new this fall. Try unique ice cream flavors and authentic Italian affogato from Caffe Panna, a Roman-style gelateria owned by burgeoning restauranteur Hallie Meyer. Join a new kind of fitness community at Rowgatta, offering high-intensity, low-impact rowing classes on 14th Street. Plan a night out at The Stand, a restaurant and comedy club on 16th Street pairing a delicious menu with some of NYC’s best comedians.

Peter Dinklage, a beloved children's bear, and several Tony-award winning directors are debuting something special in Union Square this fall. Theaters across the district are rolling out the red carpets for the premier of their 2019 - 2020 seasons. Read our full lineup of the most anticipated shows opening in Union Square this season, including Classic Stage Company’s Assassins, Daryl Roth Theatre’s Cyrano, DR2’s Paddington Gets in a Jam, The Vineyard Theatre’s Is This A Room, and many more.

Indoor Activities

As temperatures cool, it's time to find indoor activities that all ages will love. Bring the whole family for a shopping experience at CAMP Store on Fifth Avenue. Kids will be surprised and excited to open the “secret door”, revealing an activity and play space now with a new theme: Travel Camp! Stop for a nostalgic snack at Kellogg’s NYC, a cereal cafe serving DIY breakfast bowls and pop tarts, plus games and activities. Book a golfing simulator at Five Iron Golf to practice your swing with coaching from pro-golfers, plus enjoy snacks and beer while you golf.

However you enjoy the cool season in Union Square, we want to hear about it! Did we miss your favorite fall activity? Share your favorites with us on social media @UnionSquareNY.
