Russian Troll Farm: A Workplace Comedy

Written by Sarah Gencher and directed by Darko Tresnjak, Russian Troll Farm: A Workplace Comedy takes place in the lead up to the 2016 U.S. presidential election and follows the lives of office workers in St. Petersberg’s Internet Research Agency in an office comedy that meets political satire. Reimagine: Himalayan Art

The Rubin Museum of Art recently accounted their latest exhibition for 2024: “Reimagine: Himalayan Art.” Opening from March 15 to October 6, 2024, this exhibition celebrates contemporary Himalayan art through the work of 30 artists. Through a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, sound, video, performance, and more, the artists explore their personal and collective histories and call attention to themes such as the fluidity of identity, spiritual practices, sense of belonging, grief, memory, and reclamation. The artists also offer critical and thoughtful commentary on issues facing humanity across time. On the occasion of the Rubin’s 20th anniversary, #ReimagineRubin invites new ways of encountering traditional Himalayan art, as newly commissioned and recent works are placed in dialogue with objects from the Museum’s collection.

Annual Meeting in May

We had our first in-person Annual Meeting—Union Square Partnership’s biggest annual networking event—this September, and it was a huge hit! We loved seeing our USP community come out, support the organization, and learn about our future updates and what we’ve accomplished in the last year. Our Annual Meeting for 2024 is projected for the first week of May, so stay tuned for news of when to register and attend. Best part—it’s free to attend!

Upcoming volunteer opportunities

The Union Square community is amazing because of our generous neighbors! We are so thankful for our dedicated volunteers that have helped us out in the past. From neighborhood businesses to students, we’ve always welcomed motivated volunteers to help us out with activities such as our annual 14th Street busway mural, park plantings, It’s My Park Day!, and more. Reach out to us at info@unionsquarenyc.org if you are interested in future volunteer options and be in the loop about when to sign up!

Summer in the Square

Who doesn’t love 8 weeks of free programming in Union Square Park—for all ages! This year, we had bubbles, amazing kids art and science classes, pickleball courts on the North Plaza, movie nights, a couple of Blue Men…, and much more. Summer in the Square is one of our favorite traditions in Union Square and we love seeing our community come out and have fun. We’re excited to bring back a full slate of programming in 2024 and seeing everyone each week!

Events for the whole family

Union Square is your destination for family friendly events and spaces. We have a number of amazing institutions and partners in the area that offer family-friendly events. From art and science classes at Genius Gems, to Books of Wonder - the children’s bookstore, Family Sunday art classes at the Rubin, or playing at Evelyn’s Playground after a walk at the Greenmarket, we are excited to welcome your family to Union Square.

“ALL TREATS, NO TRICKS: THE GREAT PUMPKIN HUNT”

We kicked off our first ever “All Treats, No Tricks: The Great Pumpkin Hunt Presented by Union Square Partnership” this year and it was a major blast for our community. Participants could find pumpkins hidden around Union Square Park on Halloween for a treat from a neighborhood business. We partnered with neighborhood businesses such as Breads Bakery, Unregular Bakery, and Unregular Pizza, where participants won delicious treats. We’re excited to bring back the Pumpkin Hunt next Halloween with exciting, new treats to offer everyone. Stay tuned for more information!
