Our Stewards at Work: Team Updates & Accomplishments

At Union Square Partnership, we embrace our role as constant stewards in the ever-evolving landscape that is Union Square. Our daily work revolves around making Union Square a dynamic and welcoming neighborhood, blending its rich history with a forward-looking vision. Over the past few months, our team has achieved some incredible milestones, and we're excited to shine a light on the people making it all happen behind the scenes.

Bolstering Our Public Programming

We're excited to introduce the newest member of our team, Emily Orth, who joined us in June as our Events & Public Programming Associate. Emily graduated from FIT with a degree in Advertising, Marketing, and Communication, and her skills will be invaluable in her new role.

Emily's work will be key in bringing more vibrant brand activations and creative uses of our public spaces to life. She'll help ensure our programming reflects the diverse spirit of Union Square, enhancing the experiences for everyone in the neighborhood.

Representing Union Square on a Citywide Stage

We're incredibly proud to announce that Sally Burns, our Planning Associate, has been selected to join the ABNY Young Professionals (YP) Steering Committee. This influential network is committed to New York's growth through civic engagement.

As a member of the Steering Committee, Sally will help shape the vision and programming for this nearly 4,000-member network. Her involvement highlights our commitment to contributing to broader city initiatives and bringing fresh perspectives back to Union Square.

Strengthening Our Leadership from Within

We're thrilled to congratulate Josh Thompson, our Assistant Director of Special Projects and Business Operations, on his recent graduation from the Coro New York Leadership Center’s Neighborhood Leadership Program.

Coro empowers leaders across New York City with the tools and connections to drive impactful change. Josh's participation in this program has deepened his leadership skills and provided valuable insights into civic engagement, further equipping him to contribute to our work in Union Square.

Making USQ the place to be at night

We're honored to share that Union Square Partnership has been awarded an SBS Public Realm Grant to support our ongoing efforts to enhance the neighborhood's public spaces.

Specifically, this grant will fund a public art project scheduled for next winter, designed to light up our public realm, increase foot traffic, and enhance local business activity. More details to come!

We're eager to unveil new public projects that continue to make Union Square a welcoming and thriving neighborhood.
